Cougar History
The Chatham-Kent Cougars Football Club is a non-profit organization which formed in January 2006 and acquired the rights to the colour and logo of the former Chatham Collegiate Institute Cougars from the Board of Education. “Young and Hungry” will be the theme for our organization and all our football teams and leagues associated with the club. The executive committee vision is to provide football opportunities including playing, coaching, volunteerism, and administration to Chatham-Kent.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
- Provide a SAFE environment for ALL youth learning football fundaments.
- Make it AFFORDABLE compared to other minor programs so all youth can participate.
- Create an action plan to involve kids outside of Chatham (Tilbury, Dresden, Ridgetown, Blenheim, Wallaceburg, etc).
- Create volunteer opportunities.
- Develop our coaches, administration, and officials through opportunity and training.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
- Provide physical activity for kids.
- Encourage mental wellness to our youth so they have an outlet that will build self esteem.
- Children of all shapes and sizes can participate and excel.
- Provides a mental and social outlet for volunteers.
- Demand a NON SMOKING environment for all practices and games.
- Encourage healthy eating.
- Builds community pride.
SAFETY
- Home teams are responsible for providing a sports medic.
- Games cannot start until a sports medic is present.
- Person with first aid training will attend every practice.
- All equipment will exceed certification standards.
- Insurance through ONTARIO TACKLE FOOTBALL
